Pension Transfer Gold Standard
MFS operates The Pension Transfer Gold Standard code of best practice. This is a voluntary code that can be adopted by regulated financial firms which wish to offer specialist advice on pension transfers. In particular the Gold Standard covers financial advice on transfers from final salary schemes and pension schemes generally that have protected or guaranteed benefits. Financial firms and advisers who adopt the Gold Standard follow a set of principles over and above the basic regulations they are required to follow by legislation.
For your own protection, the Government has made it a legal requirement to seek financial advice before you transfer from certain pension schemes. The Pension Transfer Gold Standard is designed give you the reassurance that you receive specialist advice incorporating the highest professional standards.
